Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about occupational therapy, funding, and our services.

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) helps people of all ages participate in the activities that matter most to them. This includes daily living tasks like personal care, cooking, and getting around the community. OTs assess your abilities, set goals, and work with you to develop strategies and skills to improve your independence and quality of life.

Do I need a referral?

No GP referral is required to access our services. You can self-refer, or a family member, support coordinator, plan manager, or health professional can make a referral on your behalf. Simply contact us and we will guide you through the process.

How does NDIS funding work?

If you are an NDIS participant, occupational therapy can be funded under your plan. Our services typically fall under Capacity Building - Daily Activity or Core Supports, depending on the type of service. We work with you and your support coordinator or plan manager to ensure services are delivered within your plan budget.

What areas do you service?

We provide in-home occupational therapy across the Melbourne metropolitan area in Victoria and Western Sydney (Liverpool and surrounding suburbs) in New South Wales. Our therapists travel to you, so there is no need to visit a clinic.

How long are sessions?

Session length depends on the type of service. Initial assessments typically take 60 to 90 minutes. Ongoing therapy sessions are usually 45 to 60 minutes. We will discuss session duration with you based on your needs and goals.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, we offer telehealth occupational therapy via video call. This is a great option for participants in remote areas, those who prefer virtual sessions, or for follow-up appointments and reviews. Telehealth sessions can be funded through the NDIS.

What is a Functional Capacity Assessment?

A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive evaluation of your ability to perform everyday tasks and activities. FCAs are commonly used to support NDIS plan reviews, Home Care Package applications, and other funding requests. The assessment looks at your physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning.

How do Home Care Packages work?

Home Care Packages are government-funded packages that help older Australians access support services at home, including occupational therapy. There are four levels of packages based on care needs. If you have a Home Care Package, we can provide OT services as part of your package allocation.
